Whenever you chose to take a vacation, and travel to a distant county you should equip yourself not only with essential stuff like clothes and money but also with some traveling wisdom. Many travelers ruin their experience by spending all of their traveling money in first few days. But money isn’t everything that you can lose, your time count as well. Here are some essential tips for beginners that will make your vacation memorable.
Bring Only the Essential Stuff
Your tourist baggage should be light and filled only with the important stuff. This includes clothes, documentation, traveling papers, some money and let’s not forget a camera. Find out online or via your traveling agency what kind of weather you can expect in that country. This way you will avoid back-breaking pain caused by carrying overweight luggage.
Back Up your Information
When I lost my laptop on vacation in Shanghai, I literally had to work double hours when I came back to my hometown. All my work, including a two months marketing data, was lost. So make sure that you either back up your data or don’t bother bringing your laptop on vacation. Believe me; this is for your own good. You’ll be thanking me if you get your laptop and all the valuable data on it lost or stolen.
Make Lots and Lots of Photos
Everything you do on your vacation, you should document. And what better way to make a moment last eternally than to take a picture. So bring your camera everywhere, and I mean everywhere you go. Take photos of every step you make, and you will always have a gallery of memories to look upon when you go back home. Even if it’s at the cost of making yourself look like the biggest tourist with that camera hanging around your neck. Get a lens for every type of light, and heck, while you at it get a fully waterproof camera. This way you won’t have an excuse for not making a photo in certain situations.
Make Sure to Smile
If you have a problem of meeting other people, talking to strangers or even starting a conversation just start with a big smile and a magic word-Hello! By showing the other person that you are willing to communicate with such big smile, you increase your chances of making a new friend, lover or a business associate.
Keep your Opinion to Yourself
Remember that you are on your vacation to experience and learn new stuff by interacting with the locals. So if you have an attitude towards this or that or consider certain stereotypical behaviors are insulting to your own, keep your opinion to yourself. You are there to learn about their lifestyle, their tradition and their way of living and dealing with everyday stuff. And the more you express your negative thoughts about their lifestyle, the less information you will get from them about it.
